Background
Innovation Overview: A novel non-electric inline chlorination device for water disinfection, jointly patented by VP Eco Trade LLP and IIT Roorkee, designed for decentralized and gravity-fed systems.
• Mechanism: Utilizes controlled dissolution of chlorine tablets via a bypass system, venturi-assisted turbulence, and multiple non return valves for safe, stable disinfection.
• Objective: To provide a low cost, electricity-free, and low-maintenance solution for maintaining residual chlorine in rural and peri-urban water supplies.
Working principle
- A portion of water is diverted from the main line into the tablet housing.
- Water dissolves chlorine tablets, aided by venturi-induced turbulence.
- The chlorinated water re-enters the main line. Valves regulate the chlorine dose in real time.
